Many couples put off this call for months. Phoning makes it real — it turns trying for a baby into a medical matter. And in a place as small as Goa there is a second fear: somebody will find out.
An appointment does not commit you to IVF, or to injections, or to anything at all. It commits you to one honest conversation about where you stand.
Where we are, and which one to go to
Panjim clinic — consultations, follicle scans, ovulation induction, IUI. For Panaji, Taleigao, Dona Paula, Miramar, Ribandar, Santa Cruz, Porvorim, Bambolim.
Margao clinic — the same, for South Goa: Margao, Fatorda, Navelim, Colva, Benaulim, Curchorem, Quepem, Sanguem, Canacona.
Mapusa clinic — the same, for Bardez and the north: Mapusa, Assagao, Siolim, Calangute, Candolim, Anjuna, Saligao, Pernem, Bicholim.
Pai Hospital, Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama — the IVF laboratory, the operating theatre and the beds, and a full clinic as well. Nearest for Vasco, Vaddem, Chicalim, Dabolim, Cortalim, Sancoale and Mormugao.
The one long journey, which we drive
Panjim, Margao and Mapusa have no embryology laboratory and no operating theatre. We would rather write that here than have you discover it on the morning you are told to travel. In practice it costs you two days out of a whole IVF cycle: the day the eggs are collected and the day the embryo is put back.
On those days we send a car for you, free of cost, from your clinic to the hospital and home again afterwards. Egg collection is done under light anaesthesia, so being driven home is sensible in any case. Dr. Pai put the fleet on the road because he was losing patients who could manage the treatment but not the travelling. Mention your date on WhatsApp and the pick-up is arranged with it.

Tell us how long you have been trying, both your ages, and which town you are in. Ask for the exact address of that clinic and the days Dr. Pai sits there — consulting days move with the operating list, so do not travel on a guess.
What to bring to your first fertility visit
Bring paper — a test that is still valid need not be repeated, which saves you money.
- Every previous report, however old, even from another clinic — blood tests, hormones, thyroid, sugar.
- The semen analysis, if the husband has had one — often left at home, and one of the most useful.
- Scan reports — ultrasound of the uterus and ovaries, follicular study, and HSG (a dye X-ray that checks if the tubes are open).
- What has already been tried — tablets to help release the egg, IUI or IVF cycles, with rough years and numbers.
- Discharge papers from any operation — laparoscopy, ovarian cyst, caesarean, or surgery on the testis.
- Your cycle details — the usual gap between periods, and the date your last period started.
Any day of the cycle is fine for a first visit; some tests need particular days, and we will tell you when to come back. If the papers are lost, come anyway.
Why both partners should come
Fertility is not a woman's problem. Very often the finding is on the male side, so a plan made after seeing only one of you is half a plan. And the woman should not have to sit through this alone and then repeat the doctor's words at home.
If a semen test showed no sperm at all, bring that report and come anyway. Sperm can sometimes still be found in the testis under an operating microscope — a procedure called micro-TESE, covered on our male infertility page — done in our own theatre at Vasco, with the embryology laboratory in the next room.
Privacy, and not being judged
Goa is small and people know each other. That is one real reason couples travel out of state for treatment available here at home.
What you tell us stays in your file. Patients are not discussed in the waiting area, and no patient's face, name or story appears on this website or on social media. Ask if a quieter appointment time would be easier.
Nobody here will judge you — not for your age, your weight, how long you waited, or treatment elsewhere that did not work. The questions are direct because the answers change the plan.
Who you will see
Dr. Mayur Pai — MBBS, MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), fertility and IVF specialist and laparoscopic surgeon, in practice 15 years. Three doctors are on the team, with a full IVF laboratory including ICSI (one sperm injected directly into the egg). Dr. Pai does the procedures himself, so you are not handed to a different doctor each visit. Stimulation is kept deliberately careful — measured dosing, close scanning, willingness to freeze embryos or stop a cycle — to avoid OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome), a serious reaction to fertility injections. High-risk pregnancies are looked after on the same number.

Probably. There are four: Panjim and Mapusa in the north, Margao in the south, and Pai Hospital at Vaddem for Vasco and around. Not sure which is nearer? Ask on WhatsApp.
How do I get an appointment at Heartbeats IVF?
Call or WhatsApp 095185 02773 with how long you have been trying, both your ages, and which town suits you. No referral letter is needed.
Do I have to come to Vasco for everything?
No. Consultations, scans, injections and IUI are done at the clinic nearest you. The hospital at Vasco is needed for egg collection, embryo transfer and surgery, and on those days a car is sent for you free of cost, both ways.
What should I bring to my first fertility visit?
All previous reports, the semen analysis, scan and HSG reports, discharge papers from any surgery, treatments already tried, and the date your last period started.
Does my husband have to come as well?
Please come together if you can. Very often the finding is on the male side, so a plan built on one partner's tests is incomplete. If that is impossible, bring his semen analysis.
Will anyone find out that we came?
Not from us. Your records stay in your file, patients are not discussed where others can hear, and no patient is identified on this website or on social media. Ask for a quieter slot if that helps.
Will I have to start IVF at the first visit?
No. The first visit is for understanding your situation. Many couples need something simpler than IVF; some need a few tests first, and some need time to think.
